Cephalanthera damasonium

Perennial herbaceous plant with a horizontal rhizome and lateral roots penetrating deep into the soil. The stems - one or several, are 20-50 cm high. Leaves 3-5, spaced, oval, upper slightly tapered. The inflorescence is lean, with 3-8 (15) flowers located in the bristles of the leaf-lobes. The flowers are creamy-white colour, 1.5-2 cm long. The petals are collected in a helmet. The labellum is rounded, spur-free, whitish, at the front yellow, with 3-5 longitudinal ridges.
This orchid blooms from May to July. Propagation is by seeds (often self-pollinating) as well as vegetative, by branching and subsequently separating the rootstocks.
