Ophrys sphegodes

Tall and slender plant, 25-40 cm, with a rosette of broad, silvery green leaves. Inflorescence lax, denser on the top, with 3-9 small flowers. Bracts equal to the flower. Sepals broad, uniformly colored, pale green, the dorsal often bent over the column, the laterals rarely washed pink. Petals elongated but broad, darker, olive-green or ochre, rarely reddish, often purple. Lip entirely or slightly trilobed, ovoid or round, with slightly reflexed edge, brown with marginal hairs. Speculum central, sometimes not exceeding the middle of the lob, usually brown with a white margin, like H encircling the base of the stigmatic cavity. Large green pseudo-eyes with dark centre.
